Becoming an Intrepid Media Feature Writer
Becoming an Intrepid Media Staff Writer
Intrepid Media is always looking for sharp, consistent, unique writers to add to our Features page and, at certain times, to our staff. Here's the deal.
We allow anyone to submit up to two columns to the Gallery. We pick the best columns from there for the Features page. We pick the best writers to be staff members.
1) Don't email, message, call, or send a carrier pigeon. That's not how we roll.
2) Keep your eye on the Submissions page to see when we have open dates. But if what you post to the Gallery is good enough, we'll make room for it.
3) Your first column could be a Feature column, if it's good enough and interesting enough. All our editors contribute to the Feature selection process.
4) We don't always grab columns immediately. In some cases, we may not select a Feature column for weeks after it has been posted to the Gallery.
5) How do you know what we want? Spend some time reading the Features page, especially work from our longest serving staffers, Joe Procopio, Jael McHenry, Mike Julianelle, Adam Kraemer, etc. What's up there is what we ultimately want, only more better and funnier. We believe you can do this.
6) We only take on staff writers at certain times, and we look first at those writers who consistently turn in great stuff and make the Features page often.
And remember...
No poetry. No fiction. No short stories. No propaganda. No shilling.
500-1000 words should do it.
Your topic should be timely and interesting, and you should make your point quickly.
Be original. Be funny.
Spell check and edit before you post.
